My Life as a Dragon Prologue

First of all I would like to thank farm fresh for creating the story I am basing this on. I would also like to thank him for going public when he was turned into a dragon. ^.=.~

Hello ladies, gentlemen, dragons and dragonesses allow me to introduce myself. Most of my friends call me "Wattojawa". I live near 3 small towns in York County Pennsylvania. Last summer (2010) I was a 5'6" human. That changed in late August, now I am a 7' tall dragon.  My dragon name is "Thunder Claw" and my dragon friends use it. My family uses my human name, John. This will be the story my life since I became a dragon. But, I am going to tell you how I became a dragon first.

I suppose the events that led to this started during the final week of July, I was at Smith Electric Motor Repair talking to my friend, James, who works there about my latest project, a hit & miss electric fan. I don't work there but, I often help him fix motors and he helps me with my projects. Currently he was helping design a tilt mechanism and base for it. By the end of the week the fan was almost finished, all that was needed was to wire up the motor. Over the weekend I mowed the grass and on Sunday went to church. I spent the next week finishing the fan, well not quite but it ran. Then I had a few problems with my, Silver 2003 Chevy Astro AWD, van which hand been nicknamed "The Sandcrawler" by another friend, Harvey. It needed new connectors for its computer. That Sunday my church had its annual picnic. I brought my fan and most people thought it was cool (pun intended).

I used the week after the picnic to improve my hit & miss fan to make it run better. That Saturday I made a short video of my Cushman Moder21 TypeX antique stationary engine, because some people on one of the Forums that I use wanted to hear it run. I had a hard time getting the engine to start, at first I thought I had a spark problem but it turned out that it was simply out of gas. After I uploaded the video, I logged onto DeviantART (DA) to see if Farm Fresh had submitted another part of his latest story, Feral Time. Farm's stories were interesting as, if they were true he had been turned into a dragon about 2 years earlier and so had several other people on DA. I wasn't sure if they were true or not, I wanted them to be true, and I had seen some news reports about dragons, but they could be hoaxes. It turned out that Farm had submitted a second chapter of his newest work. I commented on his story and then I posted the video on the forums.

Sunday was uneventful though while I was at Church Harvey recommended that I see How to Train Your Dragon. I spent the next 3 days painting my fan. I took it apart and primed it on Monday and let the primer dry overnight. I painted it on Tuesday, again letting the paint dry overnight. Finally I reassembled it, took more pictures and videoed it on Wednesday. That evening someone on one of the forums I use asked if I could shoot a video of my engine with the crank cover removed. I replied "we'll see." On Thursday I removed the crank cover from the Cushman, brought my camera into the garage and got ready to start the engine. I never started it because I discovered that the gas tank was leaking.

I used a kerosene hand siphon pump to drain the fuel from the gas tank. Some rust came out of the tank too. I knew I would somehow have to get the Cushman off the cart so I could remove the gas tank but I did not know how I would do it. After Several hours I came up with a way to remover the engine form its cart using cinder blocks, some old 2x3's, some ceiling fan down rods and a screw-jack. Now that the engine was off the cart, I removed the gas tank. After that I drove to my parents' house, which is in the same valley as my house but on the other side of the creek, to tell them what happened to the engine.

My mom is a music teacher and my dad is the pastor of our church so I expected them to be at home, actually they own both houses so technically we live together. In fact until DSL became available, back in April, I slept at their house as it was the only one with internet access. That was a wonderful day because the DSL was the same speed as the satellite internet service they were using but less than half the price so I could now afford to have internet access at my house. Given that it should by no surprise that I have a key to their house. I used my key to unlock the front door. Once inside I was greeted by 2 of our family's 6 cats, I petted both of them. As expected both my mom and dad were home. They both said hi and asked how my day was going. I told them what happened to my engine and asked if they could pay for the repair, since I had spent most of my money for the month on tools and car repairs. My dad really likes the engine and was willing to do that.

With my money problems solved, I drove back home. Once I got home I put the gas tank in The Sandcrawler and drove to Michael's Mowers, a cross between a garage, small engine repair shop and Toro and Echo dealership, to see if they knew where I could get it repaired. They told me to go to Yorktown Radiators. So I drove up there and showed them the gas tank and told them that I would like them to make a new brass gas tank and transfer the fittings from the old one to it. I ask when it would be hot tanked and they said I was in luck, because they were going to hot tank several other items over the weekend, so they could start work on it on Monday.

Since it was still fairly early in the day I decided to go to the local trade school to find out when the small engine repair class started. They told me that it started the Tuesday after Labor Day. I registered for it and since I was close to the movie theater I decided to head there and see How To Train Your Dragon (HTTYD) in 3D. As I watched the movie I felt like I had some sort of deep connection with the dragons especially Toothless the Night Fury. The flying scenes must have woken up some part of me that I was unaware of as after I saw them I wished that I had wings. In fact I stated to wonder if I was a dragon stuck in a human body, and the more I thought about it the more it seemed to explain a lot of my quirks. The point of that being I now really wanted to find a TF stone and I wanted to get HTTYD as soon as the DVD was available.

On Saturday I went to an engine and tractor show. While I was there I took pictures of various endings and tractor. I talked to some people about my engine and they agreed with me that the new gas tank should be made of brass. I logged on to DA and wrote a journal about what happened to my engine, the show and my experience of watching How To Train Your Dragon including the part about wanting to be a dragon. After that I stated looking for HTTYD fan art and fan fiction.

Sunday morning, at church, I told everyone what happened to my Cushman and got various responses such as; "Wattojawa I've seen he work you do around here I know you can fix it." "I had that happen to a car once." you get the general idea. I also talked to Harvey about HTTYD. I told him that I wanted be able to fly. He said the He wished that he could right on a Night Fury and I told him that I would rather be a Night Fury. After church I stopped at my parents' house, before going to my house, to ask if they would still accept me if I was turned into a dragon. Their reply was, "Of course we would still love you, you're our son and being changed to a different species would not change that."

On Monday I built a cart for my hit and miss fan at the motor shop and, while I was working on it, told James that I wanted to be a dragon.

"Wattojawa that is impossible because dragon's aren't real" he said.

"What about the news reports from the past 2 years?" I asked.

"I have not seen any dragons except on TV so I think they are hoaxes just like the moon landings" he answered.

"Look I have already explained to you many times why the moon landings were real" I replied.

"Unless I see a dragon in the shop I will not believe that either dragons or the moon landings are real" James said.

"What does seeing a dragon have to do with the moon landings?" I asked.

"I believe that the moon landings were real before I would believe dragons are real" he answered.

"Ok" I replied.

finished the cart and went home. When I got home I turned on my PC and checked DA to see if I had any comments on my journal. It had several comments but the one that got my attention was from SnakeKing. He was one of the people on DA was supposedly a dragon, well a dragon naga in his case, and he preferred to be called Conner. In his comment Conner said that he believed that I had draconity and HTTYD awakened it. I asked him what that meant and he explained it to me. It is too complicate to explain correctly here but the short version is that essentially, in computer terms, I had dragon software running on human hardware. I told him that it seems to fit and he said that we should discuss this more tomorrow evening in godzilla99's (zilla's) DA chat room, ZillasDragonDen, which had been created for fans of dragons and anyone who is a dragon.

Since I did not have anything else to do on Tuesday, I decided to mow the backwoods paths. Unlike the meadow and hill, which can be mowed with my circa 1980 20 Hp Hydrostatic drive Wheel Horse with a 48" deck; They are narrow and can only be mowed with my 50's 10 Hp 3 speed manual Wheel horse that has a 36" deck. I carefully drove it through those paths, about halfway through the job I hear a loud thunk and the belts that drove the blades jumped off the pulleys. I disengaged the PTO clutch hoping that nothing had broke and drove to a spot where I could turn the tractor around. The I slowly drove back along the path that the problem had occurred on to see I could find out what I had hit. I hoped that it was not a piece of quartz as we have many large quartz rocks in the area and sometimes as the ground settles one will stick up enough to break a mower blade. Because of this, my dad nick named them blade busters. To my relief there were no Blade Busters sticking up, so I figured I would just have to put the belts back on and everything would be fine.

I drove the tractor back to the garage and shut of its engine and then I got the tools I would need to put the belts back on. As I got ready to work the belts back onto their pulleys I noticed the shaft that connected the 2 blades would not turn. This led me to believe that a piece of a large branch was stuck under the deck jamming the blade, so I removed the deck and turned it upside down so I could remove any debris. I found a large clump of sticks and old wet leaves so I removed it. As I did a stone fell out of it. I looked at the stone and saw that it was copper and cyan in color. the cyan parts were semi transparent like the were made of come sort of crystal. There was a lightning bolt shaped pattern on the surface of it. I was now 99% sure that Farm's stories were true and that this was a TF stone. Only one thing puzzled me, unlike what happened to the one NooMoakh found, why didn't it break when I hit it with the tractor? I would worry about that later, first I had to put the tractor back together and finish the mowing. I carefully paced the stone in the Cushman's battery box and then I put the deck back onto the tractor. After that I put the belts back on and started the engine. I engaged the PTO to see if the deck would work and it do so I finished the mowing with no more problems.

After I finished the mowing, I got my camera and took a picture of the stone. Then I submitted the picture to my DA scraps and up dated my journal saying that I think I found a TF stone and said that I would be in zillasdragonden in about an hour after I ate. I ate supper and then I entered the chat room and saw that SnakeKing (Conner), Fireflash-Rainclaw (Claw) and gryphon-guy (David) were in it.

wattojawa: hi guys I found some thing interesting to day and If it's what I think it is I will soon be able to fly

gryphon-guy: you found a TF stone didn't you?

wattojawa: Well David, Conner and Claw, look at the newest picture in my scraps and tell if it is or not

Fireflash-Rainclaw: *Checks* it is but it looks somewhat different than a normal one

SnakeKing: *checks* the markings on it look like lightning wattojawa how did you find it?

gryphon-guy: *also checks* I like the colors ^v^

wattojawa: @ Conner: I ran over it with a tractor and it jammed the mower deck. @ David: I like them too @ both: An now I'm wondering why did you 2 get TFd in to a gryphon and a dragon naga?

gryphon-guy: I was holding a feather when my stone broke, I think that may have something to do with it

SnakeKing: and I was holding a snake skin when my stone broke, some other dragons I know think it was the cause and they think the feather had a similar effect on David

Fireflash-Rainclaw: You ran over it with a tractor and it didn't break strange because when Jake aka NooMoahk ran over one with his mower it shatterred and turned him into a dragon

Wattojawa: well it was surrounded by a clump of leaves Claw, maybe that protected it

Fireflash-Rainclaw: so wattojawa are you going to use the stone?

Wattojawa: Yes Claw I am going to use it.

Fireflash-Rainclaw: You should use it right now.

wattojawa: I want to fix my engine first also I am worried about the "feral" that everyone seems to get.

SnakeKing: wattojawa if you really are draconic you don't have to worry about having to relearn everything if you have to kill a "feral mind" you might not even get one.

Wattojawa: well that's a relief Conner and maybe the making mean it will turn me into lightning dragon.

gryphon-guy: being able to breathe lightning would be really cool.

Wattojawa: No David it wouldn't, only ice breath is cool ^.=.^ and do you have an element

grypohn-guy: I should have see that one coming. I am a water gryphon and can breathe underwater.

SnakeKing: wattojawa when you use the stone please tell us?

Fireflash-Rainclaw: I hope that if it does turn him into a lightning dragon that he can shoot plasma like Toothless.

Wattojawa: Unless there is something else that is important I am leaving because I want to get lots of rest as I have a feeling that tommorrow is going to be a busy day.

gryphon-guy: Nope Bye for now ad my you get your wings soon ^v^

Fireflash-Rainclaw: good bye

SnakeKing: May you get your true form soon bye ^.=.^

I left the chat room and checked a few other websites before shutting down the computer. Then I watched some TV before getting ready to go to bed. I got up early on Wednesday and decided to clean all the grease and grime of the Cushman and its cart. Just as I was finishing that Yorktown Radiators Called and said the new gas tank was ready. I asked them for the price. Then called Dad to see if he was home, the answer was yes so I told him the new gas tank was ready and told him the price. He said he would write the check right away. I drove over to their house, picked up the check, and drove to Yorktown Radiators as fast as I safely could. Once I got there I thanked them for making so fast, gave them the check, put the new gas tank in The Sandcrawler, and drove home as fast as I could.

When I got home I put the new gas tank under the engine. It fit but the fuel line did not line up exactly anymore. So I went to the local True Value hardware store to get some copper tubing, some brass fittings and a flaring tool to make a new fuel line. After buying those I drove home and made the new fuel line for the engine. After that I started rolling my engine back onto its cart. I couldn't seem to get it to line up correctly so I knew I would need help. I don't trust my dad with anything mechanical so I called Harvey to see if he could come over and help me. He said he could be over around (5:00). That would be about an hour and a half wait so in the meantime I ate supper and brought my hit & miss fan and my camera outside; and shot a short video of it running. As I finished the video Harvey's car pulled into my driveway.

"Hi Harvey, I'm glad you could come" I said as he got out of his car.

"How can I help" he asked.

"Let me tell you" I answered.

I showed him my problem and working together we managed to get the Cushman back onto its cart. Then I showed him how to use my camera because I wanted a recording of the start up of my engine. I filled the gas tank opened the fuel valve 1/2 turn and cranked the engine. It refused to start but some smoke came out the exhaust. So I turned the fuel valve another 1/2 turn and put my left hand of the air intake to choke it. I turned the crank around once to pull gas into the cylinder then took my hand off the air intake and cranked the engine again. This time it started running with a loud pop and lots of black smoke out the exhaust. I immediately turned the fuel valve back to 1/2 turn and started advancing the spark. I double checked the oiler had the correct drip rate, then told Harvey he could stop recording.

"I glad my engine is working now" I said.

"It runs smooth." He replied.

"By Yes it does. By the way I found in interesting stone while I was mowing yesterday. I think it is a dragon TF stone." I said as I pulled the stone out of the battery box.

"What does it look like?" He asked.

"Here it is" I continued as I started walking towards him. At that moment a loud bang came from my engine as it backfired.

"Err give me a moment I need to check the engine." I said while walking back towards it.

I reached down towards the fuel valve to close it some more. As I did the engine backfired again with a puff of flame out the exhaust and another loud bang. This caused me to jump and as I did I felt my right hand hit the spark plug wire. I saw a bright cyan spark jump from the wire to the stone causing it glow. The spark also gave me a nasty shock causing me to grip the stone so hard that it exploded into fine dust that covered me.

"Yowl" I shouted, while quickly shutting off the fuel.

"Are you alright?" Harvey asked.

"I think so just got shocked by the spark plug" I said while I tried to brush off the dust and discovered it would not come off.

"Ok why are brushing your arms?" Harvey replied

"This dust won't come off... Wait a minute rock that shatters into dust and the dust won't come off. Holy engine sludge that was a dragon TF stone" I said excitedly.

"Harvey grab my camera and get ready to take lots of pictures," I said as I removed my steel toed work boots.

"What do you want pictures of and why did you remove your boots" he asked.

"I'm about to turn into a dragon and I want pictures of my transformation and it would not be pleasant for my feet to change while in steel toed boots" I said as my hands started feeling really hot.

I felt the heat spread over my entire body. As it did my skin became orange in color. I remove my t-shirt and shorts (but not my underwear). While I did this I started feeling a prickling sensation in my arms and hands. When I looked at them I saw copper colored scales growing in. The scales started spreading over my body. Large Cyan V shaped plates, scutes, started covering my chest. My finger nails grew into cyan colored claws. Moments later I felt my neck become tight then pop as it grew longer. More scutes covered the front of it. I felt my toes merge until I only had 3 toes per foot the nails grew in to talons. Immediately after that I felt some pops in legs, as they became digitigrade. The shift made me glad that I now had scales and scutes because, it caused me to loose may balance and fall onto my chest. Right after that I felt a pressure at the base of my spine which meant I was now growing a tail. I felt more scutes cover the underside of it. Then I felt 2 new limbs grow from my shoulders. The digits of these new limbs grew really long and I felt a membrane growing between them. I realized that these were my wings; at the same time I felt 2 fins grow on my tail near the base and 2 more grow near the tip. Next I felt my mouth elongate into a muzzle and felt new my pointy teeth replace my human ones. I felt my tongue grow longer and the tip fork. I felt my ears become pointed and 2 Sharp pains on the back of my head told me that I now had horns. My eyes started to feel like they were burning so I shut them. Moments later I felt what I guessed were frills grow along the length of my spine. After that I had a weird feeling in my chest like my insides were getting overhauled. Finally my mind felt like it was transferred from an emulator to its native hardware and that a bunch of disabled drivers were enabled.

I just lay there for a moment, thinking about what I would say to Harvey to prove that I kept my mind. I heard him call my name and ask if I could hear him. I opened my eye and looked at him. It looked like he was keeping himself some distance from me.

"Yes I hear you, and why are you standing there looking so nervous it's me Wattojawa." I replied.

"How do I know it's still you in there?" he asked.

"My birthday is March 1st 1988, my parents have 6 cats, I collect vintage ceiling fans, my first car was a dark green 1996 dodge grand caravan which and an engine failure in 2008, so I replaced in with The Sandcrawler and you came up with that name." I replied then asked, "Do you need more proof?"

"As soon as you mentioned ceiling fans I knew it was you." he replied.

"Glad you're satisfied now how do I look?" I asked.

"You look like a dragon" he replied.

"Gee thanks I never would have realized that" I replied sarcastically.

"No really what do I look like?" I asked giving Harvey my best attempt at an un-amused Toothless face.

"I would say you look like a mix fo an Eastern Dragon and a Night Fury." he replied.

"What about my colors?" I continued.

"Copper scales. Cyan Wing-membranes, tail fins, horns, scutes, claws, and you have cyan frills running down your back." He answered.

"What about my eyes and hair?" I asked.

"Your eyes are cyan as well. Your still have dark brown hair, but it's longer. Also you have cyan whiskers. Do you think you can stand?" he said.

"I think I can." I replied.

I slowly stood up on all fours. I knew that I should be able to walk this way but I wanted to make sure I could still stand upright first. I used my hands or I guess now paws to push myself upward and transferred all my weight on to my legs. I had to use a digitigrade stance but my tail made balance easy. In fact I found it easier to keep balanced now than when I was human, not that it was hard to remain balanced as a human mind you. I carefully took a few steps and found that, even thought I had never walked this way before, it seemed natural to do so. I guessed I was about a foot taller than Harvey now.

"Harvey can you grab the tape measure out of the garage, I want to know how tall I am?" I asked.

"Just give me a minute" He answered.

While he looked for the tape measure I decided to look myself over. The first thing I noticed is that I could see every thing in much greater detail than before. I could also tell that my sense of hearing was better and I suspected that my other senses were better as well. I looked at my hands and was glad I still had opposable thumbs. I noticed that, unlike most dragons, I had 4 fingers plus a thumb on each hand. All 5 digits had cyan claws that ended in sharp points. I looked downward toward my feet and realized that, while I was technically naked, my scutes hid everything indecent. I had the normal number of toes for a dragon 3 per foot each toe had a talon on the end. Like my claws these were cyan in color but they were longer.

"I found the tape measure" I heard Harvey say.

"Good, It will be easier to read it if you grab the step stool that is in my house." I replied.

"Okay where is it?" He asked.

"In the master bedroom's closet, the front door is unlocked. Can you bring out a mirror as well; I want to see my face?" I answered and asked.

"Give me a few more minutes." He answered.

As he walked into my house I noticed that I had rotated my head 180 degrees to answer him. Now I was curious about the range of motion that my neck allowed. I found that I could turn my head to about 210 degrees and that on all fours I could easily look down my back. While looking down my back I saw that I had a series of small round cyan frills running down my back. The last of them was located just in front of my tailfins; I guessed they ran up my neck too. I got back onto 2 legs and felt the back of my neck; there were more frills on the back of it. I turned look at my back again and realized that I had not examined my wings. I stared to open them as I did I saw my tail fins open as well. My wing arms and the spars, I guess I should call them that, of my tail fins were copper and the membranes of both were cyan. My wing arms had 4 digits. There was also a spar that came out of the elbow of my wing arms that helped suppot the membrane. Both it and the "fingers" ended in cyan spikes that were even longer than my talons. The membranes of my wings stopped just above my hips. I heard Harvey come back outside.

"I got everything now what?" he asked.

"Start by measuring my height." I answered.

He brought the step stool over, used the tape measure and said "You are 7 feet tall"

I dropped to 4's again, extended my neck forwards, and answered "Good now measure my length. I also want to know how much of it is tail."

"You are 12 feet long and about 7 feet of that is tail." he replied.

I brought my neck back up, fully opened my wings and asked "what is my wingspan? I also want to know height to the top of my head while standing on all fours"

"You wing span is 16 feet, the top of your head is 4 feet above the ground." He answered.

We also measured my tail fins. The fins at the base of my tail had a 32 inch span and the ones near my tail tip had a 2 foot span. After that I walked over to the mirror and decided to do that on all fours as I had not tried that yet. I found walking as a quadruped just as easy and natural as walking as a biped.

"Why are you walking like that?" Harvey asked.

"I wanted to see what it's like." I answered.

By now I was at the mirror. I looked at the reflection of my head noticed that it was not as tall as before. That did not surprise me since it was longer. I observed that my muzzle was narrower than farm's especially near the tip. I opened my mouth and saw that most of my teeth were pointed, but I had molars near the back.  My eyes were a bit farther apart than before and they were now cyan in color the pupils were silted lake a cat's. My ears were longer, pointed and located higher on my head. The bases of my horns were located between my ears, the actual horns starting just behind my ears. They angled back instead of up and were cyan colored. I had hair in between my horns. There were also 6 small triangular frills on my head 2 on either side below my ears and 1 on the base of each horn. My ears and frills had a rage of motion similar to Toothless's.

I backed up a bit so that I could see my whole body in the mirror. Now that I could sell all of myself at once I had to agree with Harvey, that I did look a bit like a Night Fury and I told him that. Then just for fun I decided to se how many of Toothless's expression I could imitate. After doing that I had Harvey take several pictures of me in various poses. After that I asked him to turn it off my camera and put the mirror and step stool away while I put my engine and tools away. As he walked into the house I rolled the engine back into the garage and I hit the doorframe because I forgot that I was now 7 feet talk and needed to duck to go through it. Then I cleaned up my tools and this time I remembered to duck before going through the doorway.

As I finished cleaning up Harvey came back outside and asked "now what?"

"I'm not sure I guess you can go home... Oh wait I just remembered we haven't told may parents about this yet." I replied.

"How are we going to do that?" He asked.

"I guess I should call them and tell them what happened" I answered.

"Let me do that I think I can explain it more easily" he said.

"While you do that I'm going to try flying. Call me on my cell phone when my parents are ready to come over" I answered.

He replied "ok", and then I grabbed my cell phone and realized that since my pants no longer fit, I had nothing to hold it with. "Great now what do I do" I though. Then I saw that there was an old tool belt laying on one of the shelves. I put it on, placed my phone in one of the pouches and snapped the pouch shut. I also put may watch back on and saw the time was 6:30. "Good about an hour before sunset so I have plenty of time to practice" I thought. I walked over to the small flat area in front of the back porch. I spread my wings, leapt into the air and stared flapping them, it worked I was flying. I spent the next few minutes practice simple maneuvers. I found it easy it control myself in the air. By about 6:45 I was able to hover in one spot. "This is fun... oh wait I hope I can land" I thought. I took my best to the best approach angle was. The First time I tried I ended up on all fours. After a few more attempts I managed to remain upright while landing. As I got ready to take off again I heard my cell phone ring. It was my parents; they asked if what Harvey said was true.

"Yes it's true I'm a dragon. Are you ready to come over?" I answered and asked.

"I don't know if we will ever be ready, but we are coming over" my mom answered.

"Ok give me a few minutes then you can come over." I answered.

I took off again and started heading back towards the driveway. As I flew over the pool I remembered that I had not tried breathing fire yet. Since I did not want to start a forest fire I flew several hundred feet above the tree tops. I was not sure exactly how to do this but I knew I would need plenty of air so I opened my mouth and took a deep breath. Then I started breathing out as I did so I felt something click on in side of me and moments later felt a head in my mouth a jet of light blue flame came out of it. I thought that it was interesting that I had a blue fame instead of the normal yellow-orange flame. Then I remembered that I the one time that Toothless breathed fire rather than shooting lightning fireballs, He had a blue flame too. Now I wondered if I could shoot those too, so I took another deep breath and let some fuel build up in my mouth. Then I spit it out while igniting it. This worked perfectly, I saw a football shaped object made of blue-violet plasma come out of my mouth. After it traveled about 100 yards it exploded in a ball of fire. At that moment I heard my parents' car start. I turned back towards my driveway and quickly descended as I approached it. I was getting ready to land as my parents' car pulled onto the driveway. When I landed I had too much airspeed, causing me to end up on all four's. I heard the engine stop as I got back onto 2 legs.

"Hi" I said as they got out of the car.

"John are you all right" my dad asked.

"I have never felt better" I answered.

"But you are a dragon" my mom said.

"I know I look different but it does not change who I am, and being able to fly and breathe fire more than makes up for any disadvantages of being a dragon." was my reply.

"So how is the engine running" Dad asked.

"As good as before it failed" I answered.

"Mom can you modify my clothes so that they will fit?" I asked.

"I have a few friends who can. Bring your clothes over in the morning." She replied.

"Well since everything seems under control here I'm going home" Harvey said.

"Ok" Both my parents and I said.

"I don't think we need to discuss anything else right now. See you in the morning." I said

"Ok we will see you then too" they replied.

"Bye" I said as they got in their car and drove home.

I placed my keys, wallet and camera in the tool belt with my phone and place my boots shirt and pants on the hit & miss fan's cart. I wheeled the cart back to the house. As I got there I remembered that my house has 7 foot ceilings the center part. So I stooped over a bit and managed to get my head about a foot closer to the floor and I put the fan away. I went back outside to The Sandcrawler and decided to put it away. I already knew from Farm that it was possible for a dragon to drive a car. Still it to several minutes to figure out how to sit in a semi comfortable position and I had to readjust all the mirrors. After doing all that I drove it into the garage, got back out and locked up the garage for the night. I went inside using my tail to shut the door then I turned around and locked it.

I started walking to my bedroom and forgot to duck low enough the resulted in me hitting my head on a ceiling fan in the part of the house with low ceilings. Annoyed I decided to drop to all fours, and walk that way through the center part of the house. Once I enter the bedroom, which has an 8 foot ceiling, I went back to walking upright. I entered the walk-in closet remembered to duck below the doorframe and ceiling fan and removed the tool belt. Then I took my camera out of the tool belt turned on my computer and transferred the pictures onto it. (Yes Virginia my computer is in my closet.) I used the Gimp, a free Photoshop like program, and the pictures of my transformation that Harvey took to make a tf sequence of myself. Then I up loaded it and several pictures of me that he took after we did all the measuring to DA. I also posted a new journal titled "My engine works and I can fly" and updated my profile. After I wrote that I entered the Dragon TF stone clan chat room to see who was in it and to tell them the good news. Once again Claw, Coneer, and David were in it but this time Zilla (godzilla99), Farm (Farm-Fresh) and Scales (Blackminroscales) were in it too.

Wattojawa: *flys in* I fixed my engine and you know what that means?

Farm-Fresh: I heard about your engine but what does that have to do with anything.

Wattojawa: Well Farm yesterday I told Jay, Claw and Dracano that once I fixed the engine I was going to use the TF stone that I found.

Godzilla99: So that means you're a dragon now right

Blackminorscales: I was just looking at his gallery and yes he is a dragon that looks a bit like a night fury

Fircefalsh-Rainclaw: Night Fury *Checks wattojawa's gallery* Your right Scales he does look like a Night Fury.

SnakeKing: *looks in gallery* I agree with them

Farm-Fresh: *also looks* so I'm hot the only dragon with whiskers but I think I'm the only one with out horns

godzilla99: *checks gallery* I like your colors.

Wattojawa: all It seems like everyone likes my night furyesque appearance. zilla I like my colors too ^.=.^

gryphon-guy: Have you flown yet.

wattojawa: Yes and I like the feeling of freedom that it gives me.

Blackminorscales: just remember to fly often, remember what happened to Farm once.

wattojawa: Yep I remember that Scales, Farm was forced to walk quadruped for a day, I wish I could have seen it.

Farm-Fresh: Scales did you have to bring that up *Slaps your tail*

Blackminorscales: Ow

SnakeKing: watto: Have you tried breathing fire yet.

wattojawa: Yes and I have a blue flame so I think it is based on Oxygen-Aceltyene. I can also shoot plasma bolt like Toothless.

Fireflash-Rainclaw: you can shoot plasma bolt awesome do you have pics.

wattojawa: not yet but I can get some.

Godzilla99: How tall are you wattojawa? I am 9 feet tall 17 feet long.

Wattojawa: well I am 7 feet tall on 2 legs, 4 feet tall on all fours, 12 feet long, about 7 feet of that is in my tail, and my wing span is 16 feet from tip to tip Oh and my forward tailfins have a 32 inch span tip to tip and the back one have a 2 foot span tip to tip

Gryphon-guy: So your on the short side then but your wing span is greater than normal and so is the length of your tail compared to you total length.

Wattojawa: David I think those are both Night Fury traits.

Godzilla99: I don't think that his large wingspan is just a Night Fury trait as my wing span is 24 feet

Balckminorscales: I am an 8 foot tall dragon-taur and my wing span is a foot less than your's wattojawa

Fireflash-rainclaw: Well I am 9 & 1/2 feet tall on 2 legs or 6 & 1/2 feet tall on all fours, my length is 20 feet and my wing span is 24 feet.

wattojawa: Farm is 8 feet tall on 2 legs, with an 8 foot long tail and both his total length and wing span are 14 feet right.

Farm-Fresh: Correct wattojawa.

gryphon-guy: I am 7 ft 6 in tall, 10ft 6in long and my wingspan is 14ft tip to tip

SnakeKing: Well height is some what irrelevant to me as I am a Dragon Naga but my length is 20 feet

//werechu has entered the chat room//

werechu: wattojawa I just saw you pictures and I just wanted to say that I think your look cool but not quite as cool as me, Wyraach Ur The Demonic Dragon God.

wattojawa: Thanks I think Wyraach, your not really a demonic dragon god are you

werechu: no but I like seeing how people react when I say that

wattojawa: I saw a picture of you as a taur in your gallery, Wyraach, is it real?

Farm-Fresh: Scales' idea, he photoshopped Wyraach

wattojawa: he sure looks cool that way too bad it's not real

SnakeKing: he often shifts between normal, taur, and battle dragon forms in RPs

wattojawa: I see, by the way has anyone hear form Jake or Ian lately

//NooMoahk has entered the chat room//

NooMoahk: wattojawa you have a really neat form and Ian will be on soon.

wattojawa: thank you Jake ^.=.^

//firedrake24 has entered the chat room//

firedrake24: I'm here guys did I miss anything

Fireflash-Rainclaw: Ian you only missed the best chat ever

wattojawa: well I'm not sure if it is the best chat ever but you did miss everybody's first impression of how I look now that I am a dragon

Firedrake24: You're a dragon? How did that happen? Do you have pics?

wattojawa: Yes I have pics in my gallery, and it happened just after I fixed my engine. I was holding the stone and went to adjust the fuel mixture when a spark jumped from the spark plug to my hand shocking me and causing me to crush the stone. I think that it was the spark that caused me to get so many night fury traits, including the ability to shoot plasma.

werechu: so you can shoot plasma wattojawa, If it looks like Toothless's shots then I will change my opinion about how cool you are to being equal to me.

wattojawa: Yes it does Wyraach, and now I am starting to get tired and I want to go to bed good night to all of you ^.=.^

NooMoahk: Good Night

firedrake24: Bye for now

Fireflash-Rainclaw: I hope to see some pictures of your plasma, good Night

Farm-Fresh: hope to see you soon. Don't go feral ^.=.^

Wattojawa: I won't Farm ^.=.^

Balckminorscales: I hope to talk to again soon

SnakeKing: See you again soon

godzilla99: Have fun and watch out for ferals

gryphon-guy: May the wind always be in you favor, good night

werechu: Don't scare the humans too much ^.=.~

I left the chat room, replied to comments on my pictures and journal. Then I shut down my computer and got ready to go to bed. It took me a little while to figure out how to lie on my bed, I finally ended up just curling up like a cat on it. I closed my and fell asleep wondering what sort of adventures I would have.
THIS IS OLD CRAP WORK PLEASE READ "A KEROTHIAN DRAGON'S TALE" INSTEAD  A Kerothian Dragon's Tale PrologueHumans have many views on Dragons. To some they are wise guardians, to others they are the forces of nature in physical form, still others seam them as deities. Sadly, many also seam them as either monsters to be destroyed or just ‘scaly horses’ to be tamed. A few have other views that comes closer, seeing dragons as intelligent, loyal friends, that may or may not be capable of human speech but at least suggest they are sapiens. However, even those people tend to get dragon culture wrong. The same can be said for art, some is very very wrong in various ways, some comes close, and some is almost spot on.How do I know all this about Dragons? It’s simple, I am a dragon. Maybe I should elaborate a bit more on this with a simple introduction. My name is Thunderclaw, though many call me Sir Thunder, but more on that later. I am a copper and cyan lightning dragon that humans would probably call an Anthro hybrid of an eastern dragon and nightfury. I come from the Kingdom of Daratres which is located on the planet Kerothia. That planet is located in a different realm than Terra, which is better known to humans as Planet Earth. Now why do I know all this about Terra and humans, well knowledge about the planet really does come in handy with my job. You see, I am a Duke, which means there are many important jobs I do for The King of Daratres, Conway. I often act as the 'bridge' between the king and the local area around the capital city. At other times I am overseeing development of new technology. Perhaps the most important though is the one involving 'hush hush' diplomacy with the humans of Terra, that has had both some interesting missions as well as boring paperwork updates. Unfortunately for me, my current task was one of the boring ones.Which is why I was waiting for some human diplomats to show up in a hidden bunker like base in the Southern Pennsylvania Appalachian Mountains, known as Site Rawr. This place was built by dragons a long time ago and was one of few such sites. Another, known as Site Roar, was located in Switzerland. I much preferred going to that one, in no small part because it was easier to go out and fly without being spotted by humans in the Swiss alps. Sadly, this time it was America's turn to hold the meeting to extend the treaties, so I was just reviewing human made dragon media to pass the time while I waited for the ‘hairless apes’ to show up.To pass the time while I waited, I was browsing human art sites for dragon media. I had finally found a good story about a human who was turned into a dragon remarkably similar to Kerothian ones. The writer's pen name was in interesting choice, Farm Fresh, and funny enough he seemed to have an eerily acculturate description of a real rogue group of dragons. However, I didn't get to finish as the alert bell rang when I was about halfway into the story. I got up to let the diplomats in and muttered quietly "blast it, just when it was getting good.""Good morning, gentlemen, I trust the trip out was pleasant" I said while I let them into the meeting room. They all greeted me in turn and once they were all seated, I looked over all thedocuments. First, I got extending all the nonaggression pacts out of the way, then I moved on to the trade agreements. Russia was the easiest thanks to them not changing leaders as often as the others so their policies were more stable. England was also fairly easy thanks to being fairly small. Germany and the USA, however, were always more problematic. In the case of Germany it was because they were representing most of Europe, so It was dealing with several counties at once who often had disagreements on what was needed. As for the USA well, its government could be replaced with monkeys and you would get better results. Plus ever time the leader is changed they flip flop on policies, and sure enough some of that had happened again. The elections there in the previous human year, 2018, changed which group of monkeys controlled their, so called, congress. I also had to remind them once again that no we were not needing help with drilling oil. Finally, I got it all taken care of and handed the documents back to the diplomats and thanked them for their time as they left. After they were gone, I typed up a report for King Conway and secured the entrance to the bunker. With that done I was finally ready to return home, so I went down to the lower level of the bunker, headed for the ‘vault’ area, and unlocked the main door to that section. I then went through a side door that had a sign in Draconic on it that roughly translated to “Portal room”. Once inside the room I inspected the portal, which was a circular metallic structure that was supported by several struts. Copper pipes and wires connected the metal ring to machinery beneath it while some more wires ran from the machinery to a control panel. There were some ornate details on it as well and once I was satisfied that everything looked normal, I entered some coordinates into the control panel. After that I activated it and watches as lightning crackled across the metal ring while the machinery powered up. The lighting soon become a force field stretching across the ring and then the force field opened into a wormhole. I then stepped through it and came out in a small, ornately carved, stone room with some stained-glass windows high up to provide some natural light. The only other lighting coming from some electric lights and similar looking portal machine. I pressed a button on the control panel to close the portal, then stepped out of the room and walked down a path into the courtyard of Tridian Castle.“Hope I won’t have to walk a mile to find Conway” I muttered, and I mean that literally for you see, the castle was massive, easily a mile across at the outer most wall. The castle consisted of many layers built on a large hill. Granted it was unlikely he'd be on the outer wall but even the upper area was still more than a quarter mile across in some directions. Based on the time of day and the fact that I was bit late, I figured he’d be waiting up in the library, so I started going across the courtyard. The courtyard could almost be considered a small park due it its size of several hundred feet across and the fact that it has several fountains, many trees and flowerbeds. While I walked through the courtyard, I saw some others walking around it as it was a nice day and there were some birds flying over heads as well. I also saw some steam and smoke coming out of the chimneys of the main kitchen for the main dining hall, both of those were to the left ofwhere the path I was taking met up with the upper parts of the castle. The great library dominated the view of the upper parts, since it was a circular building around 600 feet across built on the very top of the hill. To the left of it I could see some sunlight glinting of the domed roof of the chapel and to the right of it lay the ballroom/throne room. Also on the upper level was Conway’s private quarters and his office and it was to the upper levels that I was headed.I got to the end of the path and opened a set of doors that led into one of the many hallways inside the castle and started to walk through it. While I headed up the halls to the upper level, I looked around inspecting things somewhat, as the nature of my job meant I had to know something about how building systems worked, since sometimes I had to be the one to approve new buildings. That also meant I would tend to admirer the finer details of how things were built that others would just glance at. Such as how the fancy brass sconces on the walls had both electric lamps and glowstones, whereas the similarly fancy brass lights on the ceiling only had electric lamps or the patterns of the carvings in the stone and wood that made up the walls and ceiling trusses. I passed a maid who was dusting some lights while I kept going and thought about a debate that happened about two decades back, on whether or not the lights should be upgraded to LEDs. In the end it was due to the then new development of flexible LED filament strips, which allowed for efficient replicas of very early bulb designs to be made. After a little while I had made it up to the hallways of the ‘wing’ of the castle where visiting members of the nobility from other regions would stay, and some of the local nobility, myself included, lived. Given the stature of those who inhabit this section, the halls were more fancy with more elaborate carvings and the lights were gilded. But this wasn't where the office was so I just went to the halls in that section that led up to the topmost level of the castle. As I made the final turn, I saw plenty of sunlight come in through the colorful windows of the top-level hallway. Those windows were made of a mix of clear and stained glass, and I used the clear sections to look out at the woods to the northwest and the city to the southeast of the castle. As I went down the hall, I caught a glimpse of a Wyvern and Gryphon racing each other in the air outside. Both would be considered dragons to us though some humans would disagree about the former and many about the latter but that would ignore the fact that all types of dragons here can have hatchlings with the other types.I passed an eastern dragoness that was headed away from the library and as I approached the massive doors, I looked upon them and admired the detail. They were masterfully carved with the main feature being an overhead view of an ancient city that appeared to be Atlantian in design. In addition, there were depictions of dragons and some Draconic writing in the remaining free space. By the time I was done admiring the doors, I was in reach of the handles, so I opened them and went into the library. Any time I entered the library, I could not help but to marvel at the design of it as the library was a masterpiece of engineering. It had many floors that contained many bookshelves and reading areas. Each of those reading areas had a ceiling fan over it asalmost all dragon buildings used fans. Though the fans of the library where a bit unusual as the four blares were arranged like the English letter X, in order to make them quieter. The roof and upper floors were held up by stone and gilded steel supports, the largest of them being a massive pillar at the center. That was where I headed since a ramp wrapped around the pillar to connect the various levels. While I headed for it, I looked around for Conway but did not yet see him, which wasn’t that surprising since there were many bookshelves that obstructed the view across it. I got lucky and spotted him in one of the reading areas on the same level that I was on, near the center, and went over to hand him the papers as I said, “Sorry that I’m late. The monkeys were delayed and well, the EU and USA were difficult as normal.”"I assume it was the normal squabbles about trades?” He asked as he took the treaties from me and stood tall as he was a pure western dragon with regal blue scales and silver chest plates. He looked slightly down to meet my eyes and I nodded and sighed “Yeah, and also evidence for more and more internal disagreements in both lands. I fear if something doesn’t change, they will be headed for another great planet wide war.”“Oh, I hope that doesn’t happened again, last time they had they had a great war the Circum almost took over Terra, so I hope war is averted” he said solemnly as he turned to the side and looked at the books on the shelves. The ridge on his back flexed as he looked at me again and I nodded slowly as I asked, “moving on from that, any news on things going on in the kingdom?”“Well yes the Dastumado & Zburankald shipyard is about to launch a new ship” he answered. I nodded and told him that I would see him later as he got up and headed down the ramp into the archive that is under the main library. I turned around and started out of the reading area I was in as the king disappeared out of sight. I passed through the library and exited through the doors before I started back down the hallways to the 'nobility' wing where my room is. I was in a hurry to get back to my room and Firetail, as I wanted to do an evening flight with her after dinner in the nice weather we had. As for who Firetail is, easy, she is my wife, a green and gold dragoness who is more or less a hybrid of what humans would call an anthro Eastern and Western dragon, and her wings have gold feathers. Of course, humans would have harder time telling the deference between a dragon and dragoness since dragons are, not a mammalian species not even the ‘fluffy’ ones and therefore dragonesses lack a certain a bit of chest anatomy that human females have, not that that stopped horny human artists. I grumbled bit thinking about how the monkeys would fail to appreciate the natural beauty of dragons, but that quickly passed as I turned into the hall where my room was in. The bedrooms all had nicely carved doors with a place for nameplates that would show who used it and in the case of permanent residents would have the personal coat of arms as well. I soon reached my room and went in, once inside I smiled as Firetail was already there and went over to her and gave her a hug as I said, “I’m back dear sorry that I’m late.”"It's alright hun, was it the monkeys?" She asked as she hugged me back and I nodded "so shall we just head to the private dining room for dinner rather than the main one? It’s been a long week.""Sure, be nice to have a more quiet dinner tonight, let’s get ready" she replied as I nodded and headed though the side door into the bathroom to get a shower and freshen up. After the shower, I put on a different outfit, yes, most dragons do wear clothes, though not so much for modesty reasons, after all, do to reptile anatomy there is nothing to see down there most of the time. Rather, it was just for status and fashion reasons, though I sometimes thought it was a bit silly, this wasn’t one of those times though. After I got the outfit on, I looked to see what Firetail was wearing for dinner and as usual it was a good choice, a nice blue dress that complemented her colors perfectly. After we had both finished getting ready, we went down the hall to the private dining room and took a seat at one of the cherry tables in it. While I waited for someone to come out, I looked up at the fan that was over the table, that gave a nice gentle breeze as its chandelier style light cast a warm glow on the table. I soon heard the sound of a door open and turned toward it as I saw the waiter step out of the door that led into the kitchen. He came over to the table and we told him what we wanted, as he thanked us and then went back into the kitchen. While we waited, I talked to Firetail about my idea of us going on an evening flight and she agreed it would be nice way to unwind from the long week. The waiter soon came out with the food, and we spent some time eating it as I caught up on what she had been doing today. After dinner we headed to a large balcony, located off a room in the wing that functioned similar to a living room, and I grinned as I spread my wings and took off from the balcony. Firetail took off right behind me and we flew up over the castle and passed over the main courtyard as we headed out over the wooded areas to the north and west. We took this flight rather easy as we slowly flew over the forest, then went northeast over the water and finally circled around over the city before we headed back to the castle. By that point it was nearly sunset, so we landed in the courtyard to watch it set as I heard an owl in the distance. After the sun had set, we did a quick flight up to the balcony and headed inside that way. After we had walked back to our room I went in and turned on the lights, but it seemed the week was not done with me yet, as there was a flash as the center bulb on the 6-arm light on the ceiling fan blew. That fan was an antique that hand been passed down to Firetail from her family and it was rather unique with 6 blades made of a reddish wood that had carvings accented with gold stencil pattern. The motor too was rather special as the housing had vine a pattern with 6 roses that concealed the screws that held it on. The light’s arms also had a somewhat vine like appearance, as all the metal parts were finished either in brass or rose gold. I knew of no other fan identical to this one, so I never trusted anyone else to work on it. Which meant that I wouldhave to take care of the bulb tomorrow, so I made note of that as I sat down at a maple writing desk with roll up top that we had and put some notes in a journal that I kept. After that I grabbed a book from our carved rosewood bookcase and read a few chapters to relax some. Once I had finished, I got ready for bed and laid down with Firetail on our brass posted cherry wood bed. She snuggled up with me as we drifted off to sleep. It was now morning, the day after I had renewed all the treaties, and I was glad that that was over with and that it was now the weekend. The weather today looked nice, at least from a quick check out the window. My first order of business after getting ready for the day was see if there were any urgent messages for me that I had missed. So, I took a seat at our oak computer desk and powered on the computer, which also had a wood and brass case to make it better blend into the room. The computer quickly displayed the splash screen, and I took a quick sip of my water while I glanced out of the corner of my eye the message ‘loading: DracOS’. I placed the cup back down on the desk as the computer now displayed the login screen and entered the login credentials. Once it loaded the desktop, I opened the email program and checked all the new messages. Unfortunately for me there was an important message for me dated yesterday regarding the repair business Firetail and I owned which read: Dear Sir Thunder There is the matter of the special request part for the engine requested by Captain Yakvues. The steamer Winter Shimmer is scheduled to depart this Monday and he requires the completion of the repair to be done today so it can be installed and tested in time. Your Regards, RhaegalI was now quite annoyed, not cause of the unexpected repair but rather that it would now be hard to get it done properly depending on what was wrong. All do to the human diplomats being late, so I sighed as I closed the message and muttered "damn it, those monkeys being late have turned an urgent job into a weekend emergency rush job."“Thunder, we’ll get it done, now let’s get some breakfast. How does the weather look for later today?” Firetail said, and I nodded as I opened a browser and checked the weather forecast “Storms this evening cloudy tomorrow.”“At least it will hold nice long enough to get this done and get back to the castle” She replied, and I nodded as I closed out of the programs and shut down the computer. I got up and then Firetail and I headed to the private dining room. After we got seated in there, we told the waiter what we wanted for breakfast, I turned to Firetail, and we talked for a bit while we waited. Breakfast was soon brought out to us, and we thanked the waiter and then we ate. After Ifinished, I walked outside and felt the sun on my scales, as it was a nice sunny day. I spread my wings and took off from a balcony. Firetail took off after me and we flew over the eastern parts of the castle and then started to go over the city. As we flew over the city I looked downward at the trees and buildings that passed under me. Unlike human cites there is much more greenery mixed in among the buildings in most parts of the city, other than in the more industrial areas due to the need for firebreaks. The heavy industrial areas, along with the docks, stood out more due to them being their own districts unlike the mixture of residential, commercial, light industrial and other buildings in the greener parts of the city. That difference meant our cities felt less cramped and that they were much more flyable.I did not think long on city design however, as we soon neared some landmarks near my shop, notably an old, abandoned factory and a train station. To the best of my knowledge, the factory had closed a few years after the original owner died as the old Tolqie'an Fan Company merged with another soon after, Velstongkove Electric, and there was no room to expand this factory but there was at the other location. With it closed, the main user of the station was gone, so that ended up being closed eventually also, as trucks were capable of meeting the demands of other businesses in the area. Firetail and I glided down and landed in front of a brick building that was once the office building and showroom of the factory. Now it was our shop though, and I went inside after I unlocked the front door. I soon spotted what had to be the motor for the ship as there was a very old looking DC blower motor sitting on the counter. I took it into the back room and as soon as I got the cover around the brush holders off, I could see why our apprentice had left if for me. The commutator had completely disintegrated, and in the process it had destroyed, the field windings, the brushes and bent the brush holders. I disassembled the motor and as I pulled out that armature I said, “think you can take care of making new field windings while I rebuild the armature?”“Yes, I think we can get this done in time” she answered, and I nodded as I got to work on making a new commutator. I took several hours to get ever thing done and I was glad that somehow the armature windings had survived, as that would have added several more hours to the job. After everything was done and the motor was back together, I tested it with a DC power supply and to my relief it ran fine. With the test done I wrote up an invoice and then I went to call the captain to see if he would pick it up or needed it delivered. As I predicted it, turned out that he would need it delivered, as he was getting the ship ready for a Monday departure. So, I went out back behind the shop to our century old steam powered truck and lit its boiler. Dragon made equipment tended to last far longer than human after all and it was not driven enough to warrant having one with higher efficiency. While the truck warmed up, I strapped the motor to a small wooden pallet and then I loaded that on to the bed of the truck and secured it with ratchet straps. By the time I had finished, the truck had warmed up, so Firetail and I secured the shop and got in the truck.I released the parking brake and drove out onto the street headed in the direction that led toward the harbor and docks. Compared to Terra, there was far less traffic here for the obvious reason the dragons could fly, so vehicles only got used for loads too heavy to carry while flying or for long distance travel. Which combined with how much more greenery the city had compared humans’ ones kept the drive far more pleasant. While I was driving, I looked around and I saw a dragoness repainting the wooden siding on her house a nice medium blue. I thought this was a good choice that fit will with the colors of the nearby buildings but wondered what she would pick for a trim color. I soon passed the intersection as it had a red brick store with sandstone trim in one corner and thought maybe she’d try to match the trim on that. As we passed it Firetail pointed out the window and said, “did you see that?”"See what?" I asked, for I had been focused on driving and she answer, "the shop keeper just shooed a rat outside only for a cat to pounce it and run off with it.""Oh, that's funny, also I think the sandstone color would be good for the house that lady was painting" I replied. I kept driving and along the way I could see others were out for a walk or a flight and as I neared a roundabout, I saw a newer steam truck headed in the opposite direction. I had often wondered why humans abandoned the relatively clean steam power for gasoline engines as it was way easier to make steam engines more efficient via elemental energy channeling compared to internal combustion ones. Even without that advantage it still would not be hard to make a steam engine competitive via very high-pressure steam. Even the so-called flaws of startup time had long been solved with automatic firing and boiler ignition systems which made the startups easy. In the end I assumed it was just humans’ general disbelief in anything their scientists deemed 'magic' even though anything since or technology would have been 'magic' at one point. My thoughts on steam were interrupted by Firetail as she said “oh look, that church up ahead is having a wedding next weekend.”“Oh, who’s the bride and groom?” I asked, as I saw a nice stone church with a design that humans would call somewhat Byzantine ahead to the right and Firetail replied, “The bride is Durkas and the groom is Azikiel.""Well, that's nice, hope they enjoy it" I replied, and she nodded and smiled as I went past the church and continued down the road. Eventually, as I neared the docks, I had to pay more attention to the road as it was getting busier, with both more dragons walking and more trucks. I had to stop at a crossing for another road and railway track that led into a cannery, as a truck headed across the intersection toward it. After the other truck cleared the intersection, I crossed it as the road, now started to head in a more steady downhill toward the dock area. The road soon passed through an arch in the historical defensive wall that surrounded much of the city and over the sea wall as it descended down into the harbor. With the wall now behind me I now easily saw the buildings that directly serviced the docks, many of those were on stilted foundations toreduce the chances that they would flood out. I was also able to see the docks themselves and many ships at them. Many of the ships had both funnels for steam boilers and their masts rigged for sails, though many of the newer ships didn't have such rigging. Instead, those ships relied on steam alone. And there were still a few very old ships that only used sails, but they were rather rare. In general, the ships and docks were grouped by function with private sailboats and steam yachts on one end followed by the commercial passenger vessels, after those where the ships that were mixed in passenger and cargo, then the dedicated freighter and finally the fishing vessels, which were at the end of the harbor I had come in towards.I pulled the truck to the end of the main dock road and went along it slowly as I looked for the dock the Winter Shimmer was at. I soon saw the correct dock and turned onto it, as on the righthand side was the Winter Shimmer. She was a fishing vessel, similar in appearance to a Terrian North Sea fishing ship with 2 masts. Her funnel was just in front of the main mast, with the bridge just in front of it. Both masts were rigged for sails and the foremast also had booms fitted it as the style of ringing and the details of her construction suggested she was at least few decades older than my truck. Which would be right at the end of the DC electrical era and fit in with the appearance of the motor. I parked the truck as I blew its whistle and then I got out of it. While I waited for the captain, I unstrapped the motor from the truckbed and just as I was finishing, I saw someone come down the gangplank and over to the truck. He looked to be a several centuries old seadragon with blueish scales, some of which no longer lined up evenly anymore. His wings also had some lines from old scars. He wore a navy-blue captain’s uniform. I turned to face him as I said, "oh, hello Captain Yakvues.""Aye, that I am Sir Thunder, glad you could get that motor done in short notice" He replied as I put the ratchet straps away and then I asked, "so how do you plan to get it back on the Winter Shimmer?"“We’ll use a deck crane” he said, and then turns back toward his ship as he ordered the crew to get the crane set up. While they did that, I asked him “How long have you been captain of this ship?”“Since she was launched. I know every rivet of her” he said as the crew swung out one of the booms and lowered a rope down to us. I helped the captain secure the motor to the rope and then he gave the signal for them to lift it up. As it was lifted, I said, “seems this ship has been serving you well then.”“Aye, she has. And thank you for getting the motor out this weekend, we’ll have more time to try to catch some of the migratory fish” he said, and I handed him the invoice as I said, “well, best of luck on the catch and let me know if there are any problems with the motor.”"Thank you, and here's the payment, best get going. It looks like it’s going to storm soon, and it will be a strong one" he said as he took the invoice and handed over the payment. I nodded and looked up at the clouds as I got back in the truck. They were looking rather dark and as I released the brake I said to Firetail "we best skip any late lunch and head right back to the shop otherwise we might get stuck there waiting for the storm to pass."“Alright, let’s go then dear” she replied as I turned the truck around and started the drive back to the shop. As I continued the drive back, the clouds continued to build up as they got darker. By the time we had reached the shop the sky was completely overcast as the wind had also started to pick up. I shut down the truck, put the money in the safe in the office, and then I secured the shop. Firetail and I took off for the castle in a hurry and flew toward it rather quickly as I heard the first rumbles of thunder. As we neared the castle, I could feel the first few drops of rain, and we quickly landed on a balcony on our wing of the castle and headed inside. Almost immediately after I got the door shut, a heavy rain started and there was a flash in the sky from lightning as I said, “we just made it.”“Yeah, now let’s go get dinner” she replied, and I nodded as I headed over to the private dining room with her. A waitress came over and we told her what we wanted for dinner, which was more than typical since we had missed lunch. She nodded, and then went back into the kitchen. While we waited, I asked Firetail “so what shall we do after church tomorrow?”“Let’s see if the weather clears up for tomorrow first, then make plans” she answered, and then I nodded as I said “Fair enough. And I just remembered, I still need to change the bulb in the fan. There might be some time after dinner I can take care of it.”“If not just do it first thing after church. It won’t take long” she said as the waitress come out with our dinner and set it down on the table I nodded and then we ate dinner. After we finished, I checked to see what time it was and saw that it was only around 4:00 as I said, “There seems there will be plenty of time.”“That’s good dear” Firetail replied as I got up and then headed for a storeroom to get a new bulb and a ladder. I took them to my room and took care of changing the bulb as it was easy enough. After I verified that new bulb was working, I took the ladder back to the storage room and returned to my room. When I entered, I saw that Firetail had already started to get ready for vespers at the chapel. Essentially, that was an evening prayer service for which the closest human analogue would be the Eastern Orthodox vespers service. Indeed, Orthodox Christianity is the closest human equivalent to Kerothia's religion. While Firetail finished up getting ready, I got ready as well and after we were both done, we started up the halls to the upper level. This time though, rather than going into the library, I took the hall that curved around it to the east side of it. As I neared the part of the hall due east of the library, the large mahogany entry doorsof the chapel came into view. The doors had elaborate carvings that included Iconography that depicted stories from the holy book.As I opened the doors the phase carved into the frame that roughly translated to ‘Without God there is nothing’ was clearly visible. I passed through the narthex or entry area of the chapel and then took a seat on the right-hand side near the middle. Firetail took a seat next to me and while I waited for the service to start, I looked around at the architecture of the chapel. Much like typical byzantine fashion, it had a central dome supported by four concave triangles that acted as transition to sections of arched ceiling. Those sections and the dome formed a cross shape as both the ceiling and the walls were covered in iconography. It consisted of depictions of stories in the holy book, various figures from it and those we considered to be saints. Even the fans had some iconography on the motors which depicted the cycle of the liturgical year. The priest soon came out and started the service as we followed his lead and participated where we were supposed to. The service ended about 45 minutes later and I headed out of the chapel feeling more refreshed after the long week. Since we were already near the library, we headed in there and did some light reading. After we finished that I headed back down to my room with Firetail next to me. After we got back to our room we turned in for the night and went to sleep. I woke up the next morning and started to get ready for church as it was Sunday, Firetail did likewise and we headed back up to the chapel for the service. The Sunday service consisted of 2 parts one right after the other. The first part being prayer service similar to an Orthodox Orthros service and the second being our equivalent to their divine liturgy. In total it took around 2 and half to 3 hours, but it was always worth it as it left me feeling energized for the week ahead. After church Firetail and I went to the private dining room for a quick brunch and once we finished, we headed out for a walk in one of the many parks in the city. As we walked around the park, I could see others out either for a walk, or having family picnics as some birds flew around as well. There was also a red squirrel in one of the trees that seemed like it was looking for nuts. After several hours had passed, Firetail and I headed to a rather upscale restaurant for a nice dinner. After dinner we went back to the castle and spent the evening out in the courtyard for the sunset and then did some stargazing. We went inside around 9 and then turned in for the night.

don't be so hard of yourself by that addition to the start of this chapter I enjoyed reading this series it was the first series I read when I started reading on this platform and I occasionally go back and re-read it it's not rubbish you have gotten better at writing but that doesn't mean that where you started was a bad start it was just your base and you had room to improve and you have so that isn't anything to be ashamed of.
